On Music...
I rather like the new music I've heard by Astaire, a brother and sister duo from Brazil. "L-L-Love" is the best song, and it was a free download on iTunes this weekend. I went back and bought the rest of the tracks on their EP. Also, the new Garbage single is out, it's not bad. The new Tori Amos album is ok, but I haven't given it the proper, uninterrupted listening it deserves. I heard the new Kate Bush album has been postponed until October- I guess when you've waited ten years, what's six more months?

Also, I updated my model blog this weekend. I'm thinking about turning comments on, but I don't really feel like moderating them.    Posted by Hello

As the sun sets on my twenties...
A couple more hours, and I'll be 30 years old. Can you believe it? I can't. How did I get to be 30 years old, working at G-----, trudging to the office every morning to sit glumly in front of a computer? As recently as five years ago, I was in Boston, still thinking I was going to be an artist. So, what happened with that? I got tired of being poor, that's what happened. My art school classmates may lead more interesting lives than I do, but they live with roommates. The joy of selling out means being able to get $200 haircuts, and hire people to clean your apartment- the one you live in alone. Still, I miss those days of being too pretentious to work at a big corporation, and too careless to get to class on time. There's a certain joy in skipping school to spend the day getting high, and having sex with a guy you just met that's charming in your twenties, but pathological in your thirties. Posted by Hello

I made these collages in Picasa 2, by the way.  Posted by Hello

I just love this picture because it epitomizes what shipping was like. Note bottle of Advil close at hand, and abundance of Post-It Notes. Posted by Hello

Rainy day, outside my window. If "winter" in LA means two weeks in January of rain and temps in the 50's, so be it. It sure beats icy sidewalks and sub-zero wind chill factors. Posted by Hello

NY Times || No Surrender: "President Bush isn't a conservative. He's a radical - the leader of a coalition that deeply dislikes America as it is. Part of that coalition wants to tear down the legacy of Franklin Roosevelt, eviscerating Social Security and, eventually, Medicare. Another part wants to break down the barriers between church and state. And thanks to a heavy turnout by evangelical Christians, Mr. Bush has four more years to advance that radical agenda."

MSN Slate || Why Americans Hate Democrats- The unteachable ignorance of the red states.: "The error that progressives have consistently committed over the years is to underestimate the vitality of ignorance in America."
